Awards season is upon us once again, kicking off with the Golden Globes. It’s a red carpet that, historically, fashion fans always look forward to—incredible looks are pretty much the norm—but also one where some ensembles speak to the cultural conversation happening in the industry, whether it’s through a pin attached to a gown or jacket or via an all-black dress code. And for an event that celebrates a landmark year in entertainment, with films like Crazy Rich Asians and Black Panther setting new record after new record, this is certainly something viewers want to see addressed. This year, the Los Angeles Times reported ahead of the show that Time’s Up encouraged attendees to wear “TIMESUPx2” ribbons and bracelets, referencing the initiative’s second year and a newly-started campaign to double the number of women in leadership positions—in Hollywood and elsewhere.
